New Leader Circles
About The New Leader Circles

The FBN NxGi Committee now has a programme dedicated to New Leaders: "The New Leader Circles” (NLC). Made by New Leaders for New leaders, this programme offer NxG members that are currently embarking on leadership roles within their family business, the opportunity to participate in small focused peer groups tackling topics New Leaders are facing.

The aim of those peer circles is to share, in confidence common challenges: working hard in earning a leading role in the business, building our own families and sometimes also constructing the family governance.

Via regular intimate gatherings New Leader Circle Members exchange experiences on topics such as:

1. The many ways and phases to leadership in the family and the business (How to deal with hidden expectations that will come up one day, How to build trust so family accepts us and the in-laws?, How to make parents realize that it is time to step back from educating us?)

2. Ownership in family settings (What can owners do and don’t in regard to the business?)

3. Private life for family business people (How to draw the line between private and professional life - I don’t want to take business problem home – what to do?...)

Several Circles have already been launched in other FBN National Associations with great feedback:

"I opened up and discussed issues I would never share. I felt truly happy and relieved."
"I gained new deep and long-lasting friendships."
"I reflected about my life and realized what I really want to do.”
"NLC is another way to make myself stronger and more capable to deal with family business situations."

To support Member Associations in launching their own circles, the NLC Team organizes training workshops.
The trainings are moderated by David Bork, an experienced moderator and expert in the Family Business field.
Lasting for two days, with a maximum number of 15 participants, the trainings are designed to:

experiment a "Circle" learning process by sharing with your peers, in a safe environment and intimate atmosphere

gain family business basic knowledge

experience facilitation leadership

get practical tips on how to launch and facilitate your own circle

Each trained facilitator will receive a facilitator kit and will be offered support via regular online meetings.

We would like to invite you to join either of the 3 trained opportunities held in 2015:
24-25 April - Mumbai, India
19-20 June - Lausanne, Switzerland
18-19 September - Ecuador
